Apple Inc. in general is developing new technology every day, but would we be acquainted with a new integrated cellular broadband module?Sources state that it is very possible in the upcoming years. The catch, this technology will have a unique spin on an already established formula.
Depending sources have spilled the beans about their new idea but why are they being are secretive to everyone else?Apple states that this new technology will deliver third-generation cellular Internet access in future Mac Notebook models. While the company name has been kept confidential, Apple did release that they have asked for a PCI Express mini-card adapter that would be included in the future notebooks. These PCI Express adapters would include WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) connections without having to depend on an external ExpressCard or USB Modem.
The one problem that Apple is having is trying to figure out which type of express adapter to use.Companies such as Dell, HP, or any other top of the line company that produces express adapters usually offer their parts to Apple on a normal basis so they could install them inside of their notebooks, but this alternative would be a bit more expensive. One problem that consumers run across is that even though many notebooks are expensive, the parts that go inside of them might not work as well as they are supposed to.
Apple’s developers are very thorough and if they sense something isn’t right, they will redo the entire project until its perfect.Since most wireless adapters are located near the logicboard in a notebook, this is done because it saves space and such, but also can affect the signal due to electromagnetic interference.Apple has released that they are going to install the 3G Card inside of the display lid, which would improve the overall performance. If you were downloading a program or loading a website\page, this change in place would increase the speed in which you either download or load a site\page.This is still in testing however.
While the idea is fairly clear for Apple currently, what is unclear is which network(s) Apple is looking to support. It is currently unclear to whether or not Apple will bring forth a card for EVDO Internet access, which is supported by US related companies Sprint and Verizon.
Apple and AT&T already have an agreement to AT&T’s network which was made for Apple’s iPhone. There have been no revealed plans however pointing to whether or not the handset would support Internet access support for their 2.5G EDGE network. In a February WWAN Update, the computer designer may have possibly created the preliminary software groundwork for AT&T or its rivals that added drivers for select external cards supporting EVDO and HSDPA.
Since the new models of Apples notebooks haven’t been created yet, it is unclear to which one of the new notebooks will receive this new technology first.Macbook, which is Apples more popular notebook computer, was a prime candidate for this new technology, but it isn’t confirmed yet.The one problem that unfolds for Apple and other companies involved with this project is whether or not the adapter would be ready in time for the Macbooks launch.
