I have always maintained the belief that WiFi is still in its infacy stage. The full potential of this technology is still far from being realized. Troll around the internet
and practically everyday you can see different and more innovative applications for WiFi. These technology people
are really pushing the envelope and I’m loving it.
What recently caught my eye though was the new gadget developed by an Israeli company called ODF Optronics Ltd.
The device, called the EyeBall, is a baseball-sized and –shaped camera that can be thrown from afar, survive the impact of the landing and then wirelessly relay video and audio back to the base for up to two hours. The device weighs less than a pound and is heavily protectd by a strong rubber and polyurethane housing. This allows it to be thrown through windows and even bounced off walls. When the ball comes to a stop it stabilizes itself and then begins transmitting footage and sound up to 200 yards away.
The EyeBall has already been sold to the Israeli military as well as to other undisclosed military and law enforcement clients in Europe and in Asia.
The EyeBall is a great way of making surveillance or to check an environment that has no direct line of sight. This is wonderful news for police and other law enforcement personnel who know how dangerous it is to go into a location where they have no clue about the surroundings or possible resistance.
Who would’ve thought that WiFi could be used in this way?
